Theatre & Dance team at British Council uses connections and understanding of the UK contemporary theatre, dance, outdoor and live-art sectors to advise and support the international partners on working with these art forms within cultural relations programmes. I coordinated projects in India, Nigeria, Korea, Algeria, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The most important projects I coordinated were Filter Theatre’s Twelfth Night’s tour in India, Graeae’s projects in Bangladesh and Pakistan and Birdgang’s residency in Sri Lanka. I provided logistical and administrative support for theatre and dance projects including flights, visas, accommodation, freight, marketing materials, technical and access requirements and contracting. My other responsibilities included reviewing work, keeping abreast of current trends and researching availability of suitable productions and practitioners for inclusion in our cultural relations programmes, responding to enquiries about international touring and the work of our department by providing market intelligence, and explaining the opportunities for the UK theatre and dance sectors to engage with our programmes.
