Chemnitz 2025 (International Relations and Programme Development)

Chemnitz is European Capital of Culture 2025. In 2021, I worked closely with the local team focusing on internationalisation in the context of capacity building and programme development. I contributed ideas to several strategy documents outlining international opportunities for local artists and advising on international networks, connected the team and local artists with other (past and future) ECoCs as well as international artists. I initiated the International Exchange Programme and acted as a programme lead on a new summer festival.

Farm in the Cave

Farm in the Cave is one of the most recognisable companies on the Czech performing arts scene. They create interdisciplinary shows focused on social issues. I advised on the company’s fundraising and international relations including strategic planning for internationalisation, contacting potential co-producers and presenters, promoting existing and new shows internationally.

Research & publications

The tour must go on!

Commissioned by Arts Council England in partnership with Artsadmin, LIFT and 1927, I was asked along with my co-author Nadine Patel to create a simple, practical guide to for UK-based individual artists and small companies working in theatre, dance and live art to continue to tour work across Europe after Brexit. It is available to read and download in text, audio and Easy Read formats.

Artist International Development Fund

In 2018, I was a recipient of Arts Council England’s Artist International Development Fund. As part of my research project ‘Political aspects of producing & programming’, I have been invited by three festivals in Europe – Malta Festival in Poland, Mladi levi in Slovenia and Homo Novus in Latvia to undertake residencies that allowed me to research political aspects of producing and programming. I looked at ways in which artists and arts organisation in Europe have responded to the political changes of the past years (Brexit, raise of parties with nationalistic agenda, refugee crisis) and explored producing and programming as acts of political activism. This research informed my own producing practice and helped me build new networks across Europe.
